Questions
Do I need an account?
No. WholeBudget works fully without one. The account is optional and still in testing; you sign in with Apple, and it is how a household can sync through the cloud and how Plus is tied to you.
Do I need a Mac to use the iPhone app?
No. The iPhone app scans and keeps receipts on its own. The Mac app adds statement import, matching, budgets and forecasts, and the two sync when they are paired.
Does it connect to my bank?
No. You import statements you download from your bank or card. WholeBudget doesn’t connect to banks, hold card numbers or move money.
Which devices does it run on?
The Mac app is for Apple Silicon Macs; there is no Intel build. The iPhone app is for iPhone. There is no Windows or Android version.
Where does the AI come in?
To read line items and categories, and to sort transactions. You can use your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, or Plus’s WholeBudget AI. Each app asks before it first sends anything. Without either, the iPhone still reads the store, date and total on the phone.
What does Plus cost, and how do I cancel?
Planned prices are CA$4.99 a month or CA$39.99 a year, with a 2-week free trial. Apple bills it and you cancel with Apple, in your iPhone’s Settings under Subscriptions.
Is this financial advice?
No. WholeBudget describes your own records. Its AI can be wrong, so check what it reads before you rely on it.
Who makes it?
Alex Bisgould, an individual in Toronto, Ontario. Write to support@wholebudget.io with any question.
